Jesus saves a Samaritan woman over the well of Jacob - John 4

Jesus saves the Samaritan woman
And when the Lord perceived that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John.
- (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),
- And he left Judaea, and went into Galilee again.
- And it was necessary for him to pass through Samaria.
- And he went to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near the portion which Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
- And the spring of Jacob was there. And when Jesus was weary of the way, he sat down by the well. This was about the sixth hour.
- There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith unto him, Give me drink.
- For his disciples had gone into the city to buy food.
- And the woman of the Samaritan woman said unto her, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest of me to drink, that I am a Samaritan woman? (because the Jews do not communicate with the Samaritans).
- And Jesus answered and said unto him, If thou hast known the gift of God, and who it is that saith unto thee, Give me drink, thou wouldest ask of him, and he would give thee living water.
- And the woman saith unto him, Lord, thou hast nothing with which to draw, and the well is deep; where do you get the living water?
- Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of his own, and of his sons, and of his cattle?
- Jesus answered and said unto him, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again;
- But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; for the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
- And the woman saith unto him, Lord, give me this water, that I thirst no more, and come not here to take it.
- Jesus saith unto her, Go, and call thy husband, and come hither.
- And the woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou hast said well, I have no husband;
- For thou hast had five husbands, and that which thou now hast is not thy husband; This you have spoken with truth.
- And the woman saith unto him, Lord, I see that thou art a prophet.
Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and ye say that it is in Jerusalem the place where to worship.
- Jesus saith unto him, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither worship in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, the Father.
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know because salvation comes from the Jews.
- But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeks such to worship him.
- God is a Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
- And the woman saith unto him, I know that the Messiah (which is called the Christ) cometh; when he comes, he will tell us everything.
- Jesus saith unto him, I am he that speaketh unto thee.
- And his disciples came and marveled that he was talking to a woman; yet no man said unto him, What question? or: Why do you talk to her?
- And the woman left her pitcher, and went into the city, and said unto the men,
- Come, see a man who has told me all that I have done. Is not this the Christ?
- And they went out of the city, and came to him.
- And his disciples besought him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
- And he said unto them, I have food to eat, which ye know not.
- And the disciples said to one another, Did one bring anything to him?
- Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to do his work.
- Say not ye that there are yet four months, till the harvest cometh? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and see the lands, which are already white for the harvest.
- And he that reapeth receiveth reward, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal. that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may both rejoice.
- For the saying is true in this, that one soweth, and another reapeth.
- I have sent you to reap where you have not labored; others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.

Many Samaritans Believe in Jesus
- And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him by the word of the woman, which testified: He told me all that I have done.
- And when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him that he should remain with them; and stayed there two days.
- And many more believed on him because of his word.
- And they said unto the woman, It is no more by thy saying that we believe; because we have heard it ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Christ, the Savior of the world.

Return from Jesus to Galilee
- And after two days he departed thence, and departed into Galilee.
- For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
- And when they were come into Galilee, the Galileans received him, seeing all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast. because they too had gone to the party.

Healing the son of a nobleman
- And the second time Jesus went to Cana in Galilee, where he made wine out of the water. And there was a nobleman there whose son was sick in Capernaum.
- And when he heard that Jesus was come from Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he should go down, and heal his son, because he was dead.
- And Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
- The nobleman saith unto him, Lord, come down, before my son shall die.
- Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way, thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus told him, and departed.
- And when he was come down at once, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
- And he inquired of them, at what time he was better. And they said to him: Yesterday at seven o'clock the fever left him.
- And the father perceived that it was the same hour, when Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth; and he believed, and all his house.
Jesus did this second miracle, when he went from Judea to Galilee.
