Jesus says, that is the good shepherd
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but goeth up on the other hand, is a thief and a robber.
- But he that goeth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
- The doorkeeper opens the door, and the sheep hear his voice, and calls his sheep by name, and brings them out.
- And when he bringeth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
- But they shall not follow a stranger, but shall flee from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.
- Jesus told them this parable; but they did not understand what it was that told them.
- And Jesus saith unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
- All that have come before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
- I am the gate; If any man enter in through me, he shall be saved, and he shall go in, and go out, and find pasture.
- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
- I am the good Shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
- But the hireling, and he that is not shepherd, of whom the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the sheep.
- Now the hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
I am the good Shepherd, and I know my sheep, and I am known of them.
- As the Father knoweth me, I also know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep.
- And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; it is also fitting for me to add these, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be a flock and a shepherd.
- For this cause the Father loveth me: for I lay down my life to take it again.
- No man taketh it from me, but I give it of myself; I have power to give it, and power to take it again. This commandment I received from my Father. 19 - Again there was a division among the Jews because of these words.
- And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is beside himself; Why do you hear Him?
- And they said, These words are not of the devil. Can a devil open his eyes to the blind?
Jesus in Jerusalem during the Feast of Dedication
- And in Jerusalem was the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
- And Jesus walked in the temple on the porch of Solomon.
- And the Jews surrounded him, and said unto him, How long will our soul be lifted up? If you are the Christ, tell us openly.
- And he said unto them, I have told you, I believe, and ye believe not. The works that I do, in the name of my Father, these testify of me.
- But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I have spoken before.
- My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
- And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
- My Father, who gave more, is greater than all; and no one can snatch them out of the hand of my Father.
- I and the Father are one.
- Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
- And he said unto them, Yea, I have shewed you many good works from my Father; For which of these works do you stone me?
- And the Jews answered and said unto him, We do not stone thee for a good work, but for blasphemy; for, being a man, you make yourself God.
- And he said unto them, It is written not in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
- For if the law called gods to them to whom the word of God was directed, and the Scripture can not be nullified,
- To him whom the Father hath sanctified, and hath sent forth into the world, ye say, Blessed are you, for he hath said, I am the Son of God?
- If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
- But if I do them, and believe not in me, believe the works; that ye may know and believe the Father in me, and I in him.
- And they sought to bind him again, but he escaped out of his hand,
- And he departed again beyond Jordan to the place where John had first baptized; and there it remained.
- And many went unto him, and said, Truly John made no sign, but all that John said of this was true.
- And many believed therein.
