The widow's offering, the destruction of the temple and of Jerusalem - Luker 21

The widow's offering, the destruction of the temple and of Jerusalem
The poor widow's offer
- And when he saw him, he saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury;
And he saw a poor widow cast out two little coins;
- And he said, Verily I say unto you, that thou hast cast more than all this poor widow;
- For all these have laid themselves unto the offerings of God of theirs; but she, out of her poverty, gave up all her living.

Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple and of Jerusalem
- And when some had said concerning the temple, which was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, he said,
- As for these things which ye see, the days will come, when there shall not be left one stone upon another, which shall not be cut down.
- And they asked him, saying, Master, when shall these things be? And what will be the signal when this is about to happen?
- And he said, See ye not deceive, for many shall come in my name, saying, It is I, and the time is nigh. So do not go after them.
- And when ye hear of wars and seditions, be not dismayed. For this must first happen, but the end will not be soon.
- And he said unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
And there shall be in many places great earthquakes, and famines, and pestilences; there shall be also astonishing things, and great signs of heaven.
- But before all these things shall they lay hands on you, and persecute you, and deliver you up into the synagogues and into the bonds, and bring you before kings and presidents for my name's sake.
- And this shall be unto you for a testimony.
- Therefore set your hearts not to premeditate as ye shall answer;
- For I will give unto you a mouth and wisdom, which they shall not be able to withstand, neither shall they contradict all that oppose you.
- And even unto fathers, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends, shall ye be delivered; and they shall kill some of you.
- And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
- But a hair of your head shall not perish.
- In your patience possess ye your souls.
- But when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that their desolation is come.
- Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; let them which are in the midst of the city go out; and those in the fields do not enter it.
- For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
- But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give birth in those days! for there shall be a great straitness in the earth, and wrath upon this people.
- And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles shall be fulfilled.

The coming of the Son of man
- And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and in the earth anguish of the nations, in perplexity by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
- Men fainting from terror, in expectation of things to come to the world; for the virtues of heaven shall be shaken.
- And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
- Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is at hand.
- And he spake a parable unto them, Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
- When ye have already burst, ye know for yourselves, seeing them, that the summer is nigh at hand.
- And ye also, when ye see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand.
- Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away until all things be fulfilled.
- Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
- And look on you, lest your hearts be burdened with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of life, and let that day come upon you suddenly.
- For it shall come as a snare upon all that dwell in the face of all the earth.
- Watch therefore at all times, praying, that ye may be accounted worthy to avoid all these things that shall be done, and to stand before the Son of man.
- And in the day he taught in the temple, and in the evening he went out, and stood in the mount called the Olives.
- And all the people went to him into the temple early in the morning to hear him.
