Jesus expels a demonic spirit from a man in Gadara - Mark 5

Jesus expels a demonic spirit from a man in Gadara
- And they came to the other side of the sea, to the province of the Gadarenes.
- And when he was gone out of the boat, he went out to meet him from the tombs, a man of unclean spirit;
- Who had his abode in the tombs, and no man could bind him with chains;
- For when they were bound with fetters and chains, the chains were cut in pieces, and the fetters were crumbs, and no man could make them tame.
- And he went about day and night, crying in the mountains, and in the graves, and smiting himself with stones.
- And when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him.
- And he cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God Most High? I adjure you by God that you do not torment me.
- + For he said unto him, Come out of this man, thou unclean spirit.
- And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he answered him, saying, Legion is my name, for we are many.
- And he begged him not to send them out of that province.
And there was a great herd of swine grazing on the mountain.
- And all those devils begged him, saying, Send us to those pigs, that we may enter into them.
And Jesus did so. And when those unclean spirits went out, they entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down a cliff into the sea (almost two thousand), and they drowned in the sea.
- And they that fed the swine fled, and proclaimed it in the city and in the fields; and many went out to see what had happened.
- And they came unto Jesus, and beheld the demon possessed, which had the legion, seated, and clothed, and in perfect judgment, and feared.
- And they that had seen it told them what had happened to the demon-possessed, and the pigs.
- And they began to entreat him that he should depart out of his borders.
- And when he was come into the boat, he beseoned him that had been possessed with the devil, and let him be with him.
- But Jesus did not allow it, but said to him, Go to your house to yours, and announce to them how great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.
- And he went and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done to him; and all were astonished.

Jairus's daughter. The Cure of a Woman
- And as Jesus passed by again in a ship to the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea.
And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came by the name of Jairus, and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
- And he besought him greatly, saying, My daughter is to death; I beg you to come and lay your hands on him, that he may heal, and live.
- And he went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and pressed him.
- And a certain woman, who was twelve years old, had a flow of blood,
- And that he had suffered much with many physicians, and spent all that he had, profiting nothing of it, but of the worse;
- And when he heard of Jesus, he came from behind the crowd, and touched his garment.
- For he said, If I touch only his clothes, I will recover.
- And the fountain of his blood dried up quickly; and felt in his body already healed of that evil.
- And immediately Jesus, knowing that the virtue of himself had gone forth, turned to the multitude, and said, Who touched my garments?
- And his disciples said unto him, Ye see the multitude pressing upon thee, and thou sayest, Who touched me?
And he looked around to see what this had done.
- And the woman, which knew what had befallen her, fearing and trembling, came near and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
- And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace, and be healed of this evil of yours.
While he was yet speaking, some of the rulers of the synagogue came and said, "Your daughter is dead; why do you bother the Master any more?
- And Jesus having heard these words, said unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe.
- And he allowed no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
- And when he had come into the house of the ruler of the synagogue, he saw the tumult, and the mourners wept and mourned.
- And when he had come in, he said unto them, Why do ye rejoice and weep? The girl is not dead, but she sleeps.
- And they laughed at him; and he brought them forth, and took the father and the mother of the daughter, and them that were with him, and went in unto the little girl where she lay.
- And he took her hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which, translated, is: Girl, I tell you, get up.
- And straightway the child arose, and walked, for she was twelve years old; and they were amazed with great amazement.
- And he charged them not to know; and told him to give her something to eat.
