Peter is imprisoned by King Herod, and then released by an angel - Atcs 12

Peter imprisoned by Herod
- And it came to pass at that time that the king Herod stretched forth his hands over some of the church, to mistreat them;
- And James the brother of John slew with the sword.
And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he continued, and had Peter arrested also. And the days of unleavened bread were.
- And when he had bound him, he put him in prison, and delivered him unto four hundred soldiers, to keep him, and to bring him to the people after the passover.
- And Peter was kept in prison; but the church made continual prayer for him to God.
- And when Herod was about to bring him forth, that same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the guards before the gate kept the prison.
- And, behold, the angel of the LORD cometh, and a light shineth in the prison; and touched Peter on the side, and stirred him up, saying, Rise up quickly. And the chains fell from his hands.
- And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind up thy sandals. And he did so. And he said unto him, Cast thy garment upon thy back, and follow me.

Peter is released by an angel
- And he went out, and followed him. And he did not know that it was real what was being done by the angel, but he realized that he saw some vision.
And when they passed the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate, which leads to the city, which opened to them by itself; and when they had gone out, they went down a street, and immediately the angel departed from him.
- And Peter having returned unto himself, said, Now truly know that the LORD hath sent his angel, and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and all that the people of the Jews expected.
- And when he considered it, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and prayed.
- And beating Peter at the door of the court, a little girl named Rode went out to listen;
- And when he knew the voice of Peter, he opened not the door of joy: but running in, he announced that Peter was standing at the door.
- And they said unto him, Thou art beside thee. But she claimed it was. And they said, He is his angel.
- But Peter kept beating, and when they opened they saw him, and were astonished.
- And he beckoned with their hands to be silent, and told them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison, and said, Tell this thing unto James, and to the brethren. And leaving, he departed to another place.
- And it came to pass, when there was a day, that there was not a little commotion among the soldiers concerning that which was to be done of Peter.
- And when Herod sought him, and found him not, when he had examined the guards, he commanded them to be put to death. And he departed from Judea to Caesarea, and abode there.

Death of Herod
- And he was angry with them of Tire and Sidon; but these, having come in agreement with him, and obtaining the friendship of Blastus, who was the king's chamberlain, asked for peace; because his country was supplied with the king's country.
- And on a appointed day, when Herod had put on his royal garments, he sat on the judgment seat and practiced them.
And the people said, The voice of God, and not of man.
- And the angel of Jehovah smote him at the same time, because he did not give glory to God, and he was eaten of animals and died.
- And the word of God grew and multiplied. 25 - And Barnabas and Saul, having finished that service, returned from Jerusalem, and took with him John, whose surname was Mark.
