Apparition Of Jesus Beside The Sea Of Tiberias
- After this Jesus was again manifested to the disciples by the sea of Tiberias; and it was manifested thus:
- And Simon Peter, and Thomas, called Didymus, and Nathanael, which was of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two of his disciples were together.
- And Simon Peter saith unto them, I go fishing. And they say unto him, We also go with thee. They went and went up to the boat, and they caught nothing that night.
- And when it was morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know that he was Jesus. 5 - And Jesus said unto them, Children, have you anything to eat? They answered him: No.
- And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. And they cast it, and could no more take it away, by the multitude of the fish.
- And the disciple, whom Jesus loved, said to Peter, It is the Lord. And when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded himself with the robe (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.
- And the other disciples went with the boat (for they were not far from the land but about two hundred cubits), carrying the net full of fish.
- And when they came down to the land, they saw the coals there, and a fish laid upon it, and bread.
- Jesus saith unto them, Bring forth the fish which thou hast now taken.
- And Simon Peter went up, and drew the net into the earth, full of a hundred and fifty-three great fishes: and there were so many that the net was not broken.
- Jesus saith unto them, Come, eat. And none of the disciples dared to ask him, Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord.
- And Jesus came and took the bread, and gave them, and the fish likewise.
- Now it was the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples, after he had risen from the dead.
Jesus raises the spiritual spirit of the Apostle Peter
- And when they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? And he answered, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him, Feed my lambs.
- And he said to him again, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him, Feed my sheep.
- And he said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Simon was grieved for having told him the third time: "Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; You know that I love you. Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep."
- Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast younger, thou girded thyself, and walkedest where thou wilt; But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and take you where you do not want to.
And he said this, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he said unto him, Follow me.
- And Peter turned and saw that the disciple followed him, whom Jesus loved, and lay down on his supper, and said, Lord, who can betray thee?
- And when Peter saw him, he said unto Jesus, Lord, and what will this be?
- Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what doest thou to thee? Follow me.
- And this saying was spread among the brethren, that the disciple should not die. But Jesus did not tell him that he would not die, but if I want him to stay until I come, what does it matter to you?
- This is the disciple who testifies of these things and wrote them; and we know that his testimony is true.
- But there are many other things which Jesus did; and if each one of them was written, I think that not even the whole world could contain the books that were written. Amen.
