21 - Huz seu primogênito, e Buz seu irmão, e Kemuel, pai de Aram,

22 - Chesed, Hazo e Pildash, Jidlaph e Bethuel.

23 - E Bethuel gerou a Rebeque: estes oito Milcaus suportaram a Nahor, o irmão de Abraão.

24 - E a sua concubina, cujo nome era Reumá, desnudou também Tebah, Gaham, Thahash e Maachá.

Capítulo 23

1 - E Sara tinha cento e sete e vinte anos de idade: estes foram os anos da vida de Sara.

2 - E Sara morreu em Kirjatharba; O mesmo é hebron na terra de Canaã; e Abraão veio a lutar por Sara, e a chorar por ela.

3 - E levantou-se Abraão de antes da sua morte, e falou aos filhos de Heth, dizendo:

4 - Eu sou um estranho e um estrangeiro com você: me dê uma possessão de um lugar de enterro com você, para que eu possa enterrar meu morto fora da minha vista.

5 E os filhos de Heth responderam a Abraão, dizendo-lhe:

6 - Ouça-nos, meu senhor: você é um poderoso príncipe entre nós: na escolha dos nossos sepulcros, enterre a sua morte; Nenhum de nós reterá de ti o seu sepulcro, mas para que sepas os teus mortos.

7 - Abraão levantou-se, e se inclinou para o povo da terra, até aos filhos de Heth.

8 - E ele comunicou com eles, dizendo: Se fosse sua mente que eu sepultasse meus mortos fora da minha vista; ouça-me e envie-me a Efron, filho do Zohar,

9 - Para que me dê a caverna de Macpela, que ele tem, que está no fim de seu campo; Por tanto dinheiro quanto vale, ele me dará por uma possessão de um enterro entre vocês.

10 E Ephron habitou entre os filhos de Heth; E Efrom, o heteu, respondeu a Abraão na audiência dos filhos de Heth, e de todos os que entraram na entrada da sua cidade, dizendo:

11 - Não, meu senhor, ouça-me: o campo dá-te, e a caverna que está nele, eu te dou; na presença dos filhos do meu povo, eu te digo: enterre os teus mortos.

12 - E Abraão se inclinou diante do povo da terra.

13 - E falou a Efron na audiência do povo da terra, dizendo: Mas se o dares, peço-te, ouve-me: eu te darei dinheiro para o campo; pegue isso de mim, e vou enterrar meu morto lá.

14 - E Efron respondeu a Abraão, dizendo-lhe:

15 - Meu senhor, ouviu-me: a terra vale quatrocentos siclos de prata; O que é isso entre mim e você? enterre, portanto, os teus mortos.

16 - E Abraão ouviu a Efrom; e Abraão pesou para Efron a prata, que ele havia nomeado na audiência dos filhos de Heth, quatrocentos siclos de prata, dinheiro atual com o comerciante.

Chapter 23

¹ - And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah. ² And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

³ - And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying, 

⁴ - I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight. 

⁵ - And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him, 

⁶ - Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead. 

⁷ - And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth. 

⁸ - And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar, 

⁹ - That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you. 

¹⁰ - And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying, 

¹¹ - Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead. 

¹² - And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land. 

¹³ - And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there. 

¹⁴ - And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him, 

¹⁵ - My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.

¹⁶ - And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.

23 - βα θ̣ουη̣λ δε̣ εγεν ν η̣ϲε ν την ρε̣̣βεκ καν · οκτω ουτ οι ϋϊοι . ουϲ ετ εκεν μελ̣χα τ ω ναχωρ τω αδελφ ω αβρα α μ ·

23:1 - εγενετο δε η ζ ωη ϲαρραϲ ετη  κ̣ζ ·

2 - και απεθαν εν ϲαρρα εν π ο̣λει αρβοκ η εϲ τιν   τω κοιλ ωματι · αυτη εϲ τ̣ιν χεβρ  . εν γη χ ανααν · ηλθε ν δ ε αβρααμ κοψ̣αϲ̣θαι ϲαρραν και πενθηϲαι ·

3 - και ανεϲτη αβρααμʼ απο του νεκρου ^┬ και ειπεν τοιϲ ϋιοιϲ του χετʼ λεγ  ·

4 - παροικοϲ κα ι π αρεπιδημοϲ εγω̣ ε ι̣μι ^┬ δοτε ουν μ οι κτη̣ ϲιν ταφου μ εθ ϋ μων και θαψ ω το̣ νεκρον μου απ εμ ου
