The weight of the Lord's word on Nineveh - Nahum 1
1 - Peace of Nineveh. Book of vision of Naum, the elcosite.
2 - The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD is avenging and full of fury; the LORD taketh vengeance upon his adversaries, and keepeth wrath against his enemies.
3 - The LORD is slow to anger, but great in power, and he does not hold the guilty innocent; the LORD has his way in the storm and the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 - He rebukes the sea, and causes it to dry up, and exhausts all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel faint, and the flower of Lebanon withers.
5 - The mountains tremble before him, and the hills melt; and the earth stands before him; and the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 - Who shall stand before his wrath, and who shall stand before the fierceness of his anger? His wrath poured out like a fire, and the rocks were overthrown by him.
7 - The LORD is good; he is strong in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 - And with an overflowing flood shall he be done at once with his place; and darkness shall pursue their enemies.
9 - What do you think against the LORD? He himself will consume you from everything; the anguish shall not arise twice.
10 - For though they are intertwined like thorns, and are full of wine like drunken, they shall be consumed like dry straw.
11 - One of you has gone out who has plotted evil against the LORD, a vile counselor.
12 - And thus saith the LORD, As sure as they are, and however numerous they may be, yet they shall be cut off, and he shall pass away; I have afflicted thee, but I will not afflict thee.
13 - But now I will break his yoke from you, and I will break your bonds.
14 - But the LORD commanded thee, that there should be no seed of thy name; from the house of thy gods I will cut off the graven images and the molten images; there will I make thy sepulcher, for thou art vile.
15 - Behold, the mountains of the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that bringeth peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah, keep your vows, for the wicked will never again pass through you; it is entirely exterminated.
Nahum prophesies the siege and taking of Nineveh - Nahum 2
1 - The destroyer has risen against you. Guard thy fortress, watch the way, strengthen the loins, strengthen thy power greatly.
2 - For the LORD will restore the excellence of Jacob as the excellency of Israel; because the spoilers spoiled them, and destroyed their branches.
3 - The shields of his strong ones will be red, the mighty men will be clothed with scarlet, the chariots as flaming torches in the day of their preparation, and the cypresses will be terribly shaken.
4 - The cars will run furiously in the streets, they will collide against each other in the wide ways; their appearance will be like that of torches, they will run like lightning.
5 - He will remember his mighty men; but they shall stumble at his going; they will hurry to reach his wall, when the shelter is prepared.
6 - The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 - It is decreed: it shall be taken captive, driven upward; and his maidservants shall accompany him, moaning like doves, and beating their breasts.
8 - Nine has been like a pool of water since it existed, but they are now leaking. Stop, stop crying! but no one will look back.
9 - Shaqueai the silver, plunder the gold, because the provisions have no end, riches of all kinds of desirable goods.
10 - She is exhausted and devastated; the heart melts, and the knees are shaken, and in every loins there is pain, and the faces of all of them are black.
11 - Where now is the lair of the lions, and the pastures of the young lions, where the old lion and the lion's whelp walked, and there was no one to frighten them?
12 - The lion snatched up enough of his young, and strangled the prey for his lionesses, and filled their caves with their prey with their prey.
13 - I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn thy chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy lions, and I will pluck thy prey out of the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
Naum prophesies the destruction of Nineveh - Nahum 3
1 - AI of the bloody city! It is all full of lies and prey; it does not depart from it.
2 - There is a scourge of scourging, and the noise of the noise of the wheels; and the horses trample, and cars leap.
3 - The horseman raises up the flaming sword, like the flashing spear, and there will be a multitude of dead, and an abundance of corpses, and the dead will have no end; they shall stumble in their bodies;
4 - Because of the multitude of sins of the most gracious harlot, of the master of sorceries, who sold the nations with their fornications, and the families for their sorceries.
5 - I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will raise up thy skirt on thy face, and I will shew the nakedness of the nations, and the kingdoms thy shame.
6 - And I will cast up abominable things upon thee, and I will put thee to shame, and I will set thee for a spectacle.
7 - And it shall come to pass, that all that see thee shall flee from thee, and shall say, Nineveh is destroyed, who shall have compassion on her? Where will I get you dildos?
8 - Are you better than Nô-Ammon, who sits among the canals of the Nile, surrounded by water, with the sea on the terrace, and the sea for the wall?
9 - Ethiopia and Egypt were their strength, and there was no end; Pute and Libya were his help.
10 - And she was taken captive to the exile; his sons also were broken in the entrances of all the streets, and cast lots upon his nobles, and all his great ones were bound with fetters.
11 - You shall also be drunken, and you shall hide yourself; you will also seek strength because of the enemy.
12 - All your strongholds will be like fig trees with figs; if they shake them, they fall into the mouth of the one who eats them.
13 - Behold, your people in the midst of you are like women; the gates of thy land shall be open wide to thine enemies; the fire will consume your locks.
14 - Take waters for the siege, strengthen your fortresses; enters the mud, and treads the clay, takes the form to the bricks.
15 - The fire will consume you, the sword will destroy you; it will consume you like the locust. Multiply thee as the locust, multiply thee as the locust.
16 - You have multiplied your traders more than the stars of the sky; the locust will spread and fly.
17 - Your princes are like locusts, and your captains are like the great locusts that camp in the hedgerows in the cold days; in the rising of the sun they fly, so that the place where they are is no longer known.
18 - Thy shepherds shall sleep, O king of Assyria, Thy chiefs shall rest, Thy people shall be scattered abroad in the mountains, and none shall gather them.
19 - There is no cure for your wound, your wound is painful. All who hear thy fame shall beat their hands upon thee; for whom hath not your malice continually passed over?
