Threats against the chiefs and false prophets
1 - And I said, Hear, I beseech thee, O chiefs of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; is it not for you to know the judgment?
2 - Ye that hate good, and love evil, that tear off the skin from off them, and the flesh from off their bones;
3 - And ye eat the flesh of my people, and tear off their skin, and break their bones, and divide them as for the pot, and as flesh in the cauldron.
4 - Then they shall cry unto the LORD, but he shall not hearken unto them; but he will hide their face from them at that time, since they have done evil in their works.
5 - Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that cause my people to err, and they bite with their teeth, and cry for peace; but against him who gives them nothing in their mouth, they prepare war.
6 - And it shall come to pass, that at night you shall have no vision, and you shall have darkness without divination, and the sun shall set on the prophets, and the day shall be black upon them.
7 - And the seers shall be ashamed, and the diviners shall be ashamed; yea, all of them shall cover their lips, for there shall be no answer from God.
8 - But I am full of the power of the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment and of might, to preach unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
9 - Hear this now, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, who abhor the judgment, and pervert all that is right,
10 - Building up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11 - Their rulers give their judgments for a bribe, and their priests teach for an interest, and their prophets divine for money; and yet they lean against the LORD, saying, Is not the LORD among us? No evil will come upon us.
12 - Therefore, because of you, Zion shall be plowed up like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the tops of a forest.

Prediction of the birth of the Messiah
1 - Now assemble in troops, O daughter of troops; he will surround himself with us; they shall smite with the rod in the face of the Judge of Israel.
2 And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall come forth that shall rule in Israel, and whose goings forth are of old, from everlasting.
3 - And he shall deliver them up to the time when she that hath travailed she brought forth; then the remnant of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel.

The institution of the kingdom of the Messiah
4 - And he shall stand and feed the people in the strength of the LORD, in the excellency of the name of the LORD their God; and they shall abide, because now he shall be exalted to the ends of the earth.
5 - And this shall be our peace; when Assyria comes to our land, and when we step into our palaces, we will raise against her seven shepherds and eight princes among men.
6 - These shall consume the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at their inlets. So he will deliver us from Assyria, when he comes to our land, and when he traces our terms.
7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples, as dew from the LORD, as a drizzle upon the grass, which waiteth not for man, neither doth wait for the sons of men.
8 - And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles among many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a lion among the flocks of sheep: and when he passeth, he shall tread and dash, them free.
9 - Thine hand shall be exalted above thine adversaries; and all thy enemies shall be cut off.
10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots.
11 - And I will destroy the cities of thy land, and will destroy all thy fortresses;
12 - And I will cut off the wizards out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no diviner;
13 - And I will cut off thy graven images and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no longer bow down to the work of thy hands.
14 - And I will pluck thy groves out of the midst of thee; and I will destroy your cities.
15 - And I will avenge the Gentiles that hear not in anger and wrath.
