The destruction of the enemies of the people of God
- THE WEIGHT of the word of the LORD upon Israel: The LORD spake, and stretched up the heaven, and founded the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him.
- Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling for all the peoples round about, and also for Judah, during the siege against Jerusalem.
- And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all people; all who carry it will surely be shattered; and all the people of the land shall be gathered against it.
- In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite all horses with astonishment, and with madness they that ride upon them; but I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and I will smite all the horses of the people with blindness.
- And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.
Repentance and purification of Israel
- In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a burning vessel in the midst of the wood, and as a fire in the midst of the wood; and to the right and to the left shall they consume all the peoples round about, and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her place, in Jerusalem;
And the LORD shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not exalted above Judah.
- In that day the LORD will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and the weakest among them in that day shall be as David, and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.
- And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem;
- But over the house of David, and over the inhabitants of Jerusalem, I will pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication; and they shall look upon me, whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn over him, as one mourns for the only begotten son; and weep bitterly for him, as though weeping bitterly for the firstborn.
In that day shall mourning in Jerusalem be as great as the mourning of Hadade-Rimmon in the valley of Megiddo.
- And the land shall mourn, every family apart: the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; and the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
- The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their women apart.
- All the remnant families, every family apart, and their women apart.
